Mind Body & Spirits believes it is their responsibility to help educate children and young adults about the importance of sustainability and local organic whole foods by hosting FREE field trips for schools and various organizations. Students learn about harnessing solar energy, the importance of organic foods to the human body and environment as well as recycling.

To schedule a educational field trip, contact Missy Plesz at mbsschool@me.com.

More info: Being that MBS is a certified organic restaurant they like to explain how organic farming is important to our environment and our bodies. They help do that with a greenhouse tour. At MBS students can also learn about harnessing solar energy in many forms, from the PV (Photo Voltaic) solar panels that power the building to the solar hot water panels and the passive solar (Trombe wall & Solar water tubes) in the onsite greenhouse. The restaurant building is heated and cooled by a Geo thermal system that consists of (20) 200ft deep wells. During fieldtrips MBS explains the process of exchanging the building temperature with the temperature of the Earth. They show and explain all of the eco-friendly/recycled materials used in the renovation of our 100+ year old building, as well as explain the extensive recycling and repurposing programs including the bio digester that turns all food waste into a nutrient rich soil fertilizer.
