Metalmite Corporation

Machine Shope in Oakland County

Metalmite was founded in 1968, solely by Mike Gendich, in downtown Rochester, MI. He envisioned a manufacturing facility where he could produce machined parts efficiently and effectively, while offering them at a fair market price. 41 years later, now under the direction of his son Tom Gendich, Metalmite has accomplished its vision.

They are a full service CNC Machine Shop that modifies and manufactures parts and prototypes utilizing myriad materials. Their expertise and product breadth allows them to service the automotive, aerospace, medical, and military industries. Aside from being successful in their business ventures, Metalmite always extends a helping hand to the communities in and around Rochester.

Life Challenge of Southeastern Michigan

Life Challenge of South East Michigan

Metalmite recently donated $5695.00 to Life Challenge of Southeastern Michigan, located in the heart of Detroit, in order for them to purchase a new stove for their food ministry.  Life Challenge began in 1965, formerly known as Detroit Teen Challenge, and has been an organization at the forefront of helping people struggling with addictions. Life Challenge of Southeastern Michigan is a one year Christian-growth program providing residential care for men and women with alcohol, drug, and other life controlling problems. They currently have over 400 centers world-wide and have helped hundreds of men and women bound to drugs, alcohol, sex, gambling, depression, bitterness, and the like.  They operate as a nonprofit, 501(c)(3) ecclesiastical corporation governed by a Board of Directors. Their support comes solely through individuals, churches, and businesses who believe in their mission, for they receive no federal, state, or local funding. Metalmite has supported this organization for over 25 years, and we are glad to see the needs of others being met.

Metalmite is also constantly involved in the community of downtown Rochester, helping to refurbish products for free to surrounding businesses. Some of our beneficiairies are local fire departments, sherriffs offices, and local shop owners. Tom Gendich, VP of Metalmite said "We do this because we still believe in strengthening America and paying it forward!"

Rochester Lions Club

Rochester Lions Club and FIRST Robotics Program

Mike Gendich  has been a member of the Rochester Lions Club for over 30 years.  Recently, we purchased a food truck to provide on-site cooking and sales of food and beverages at various volunteer events. We not only house the truck at Metalmite headquarters, but we provide all of the maintenance for them.  The club simply leases the use per each charity event and all of the proceeds go to that specific charity, such as the Leader Dog School for the Blind or other groups that the Lions Clubs support.  Metalmite not only donates almost all of the food for these events, but we donate the necessarily labor required to participate (in the form of volunteer employees). Charitable causes such as painting the historical barn in Rochester, and the Make A Wish fundraiser, were just two of the events we participated in this past spring.

Metalmite also sponsors local high school and university students involved in the FIRST Robotics Program for engineers. We provide these aspiring engineers with manufcaturing capactity, monetary contributions, and our personal time, to help answer questions pertaining to project implementation. We donate every year to the Lawrence Technological Institute and Oakland University enginerering programs, and many former students have become future vendors for our company. As a matter of fact, positive acclaim from a former OU student, and current Army engineer, is how we were awarded a contract to work with the U.S. Department of Defense!
